Our commitment

Vertgigs is committed to making our platform accessible to all users, including people with disabilities. We target conformance with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Accessibility is not an afterthought for us; it is built into our design system from the start.

What we have implemented

Focus management: All interactive elements have visible focus rings (2px solid accent color, minimum 3:1 contrast ratio with adjacent colors, meeting WCAG 2.4.11). Cookie banner: Full focus trap, auto-focus on dismiss, Escape key to close, role=dialog with aria-label and aria-describedby. Color contrast: All text meets 4.5:1 contrast ratio against background for normal text and 3:1 for large text. Buttons meet 3:1 contrast (WCAG 1.4.11). Navigation: Main navigation has role=navigation and aria-label. Skip-to-content link available via keyboard. Images: All images have descriptive alt text. Avatar images use the creator's name as alt text. Forms: All form inputs have associated labels using htmlFor/id pairs. Error messages are announced to screen readers. Semantic HTML: Pages use appropriate heading hierarchy (h1 through h3), landmark regions (nav, main, aside, footer), and ARIA roles where needed.

Known limitations

The talent, gig, and event filter sidebars are functional but not fully tested with all screen readers. The 9:16 reel placeholder on talent profiles does not yet have a transcript or audio description. The cookie banner Escape key dismiss is implemented but the banner does not return focus to the triggering element (it returns focus to the dismiss button). We are working to address these in the next release.

Browser and assistive technology support

We test with the latest versions of Chrome, Firefox, and Safari on macOS, and Chrome on Android. Screen reader testing is done with VoiceOver (macOS/iOS) and NVDA (Windows). We do not currently test with JAWS. If you experience issues with any assistive technology, please let us know.

How to report an issue

If you encounter an accessibility barrier on Vertgigs, we want to know about it. Email accessibility@vertgigs.com with a description of the issue, the URL where you encountered it, and the assistive technology or browser you were using. We will respond within 5 business days and aim to resolve reported issues within 30 days.

Third-party content

Some content on Vertgigs is provided by third parties (user-uploaded reel content, external links). We cannot guarantee the accessibility of third-party content, but we encourage all users to submit accessible content and we will not penalize accessibility-focused submissions.
